Yes, another Rockstar Roadtrip! We were warned the winding roads were cause for car sickness and I’d looked for baby car sickness medicine in Bumps to Babes but had only seen something that was for 2 or 3 years onwards – and then when I wanted to take my own pills I realized they expired in June 2012 because the only time I’ve ever gotten motion sickness pills was when we went sky diving at Lake Wanaka.
(I hadn’t made a special effort to look for my own pills because when people first told me about the winding roads I thought having lived in HK and taken cabs here (major barf-inspiration) I would be able to take it. However I also know that after winding down the breast milk pumping my hormones (a.k.a. vomit-tolerance) was all over the place. Anyway, Little Miss fusses, I feel a little sick, we get (thankfully, can you imagine?) stuck behind huge cargo trucks on couple occasions….
And we’re there. Ever heard of Bala Chalets? I hadn’t. Not til we were almost up there did I even think to ask where we would be staying at Cameron Highlands. No that last is not Bala Chalet.
This is Bala Chalet:
Mr Bala, one of the wait staff tells me (I’m guessing majority of them are Tamil but please correct me or scream at me if I’m wrong!) has owned the place for some 30 years. The place itself is 70 years old. I was surprised to find there’s some wondering whether it’s haunted – well for the record I hadn’t expected to sleep well on the trip at all, I am a very bad sleeper, but I did. The place is beautiful.
The chalet is beautiful! I love the greens there. No, I have not heard of it at all. If I ever go to CH, maybe I will consider staying here (don’t quite like all the winding roads so seldom go CH – only been there 4 times so far in 41 years of my life).
Miss Rockstar looks so happy and adorable walking about there. How about Rockstar? Did he have a good time in CH?
Actually their restaurant and English tea garden is very peaceful and nice too… Too bad we never had a chance to enjoy those… Rockstar loved the strawberry picking in particular (though it soon got very hot); in general he absolutely loves fruit
I love their surroundings. It was really peaceful. I hope they don’t over develop like the rest of Camerons. Its really sad to see Camerons now. A few years ago when I walked around Bala’s Chalets garden there were mist around us.
