It’s the last week of school before summer holidays, and most of Rockstar’s schoolwork came home yesterday…
I know a lot of my girlfriends will be turned on by this (sickos :D) but before I got to that, my first honest reaction (after which then impressed la) was shock. As in OMG kids do so much stuff in school these days? When they first said to send in a “sturdy” bag for holding our child’s schoolwork the word hadn’t quite registered…. Many of the books are completely or near completely filled, and that’s just the written work and activity papers, not counting the stuff they do on the computers, music, PE, Chinese, structured play and yes, art. No wonder “free play” is also scheduled in.
We like em very much, thank you.
I look up from all the stuff at a beaming Rockstar and I almost ask him, “So, can you now also do a back flip triple somersault followed by a single-hand spring?”
ps: We were scheduled to spend two weeks in Malaysia early next week, but because of the haze as of last night we decided to try and switch around our vacations, meaning the ski lessons we promised Rockstar first, then Malaysia few weeks after. You can imagine the kind of booking hassle and some worry we won’t be able to make good on the ski stuff – considering we are very proud and happy of how he’s completing his first year of Primary school that adds a lot more pressure because we promised him this thing for almost a year. And oh yes, the packing. From hot weather destination to (IF we manage to book it) snow with a first time traveller baby who hates CARS. Fun.
A quick flip through Rockstar’s books reveals various Rockstarisms in his essays and phonics, a gadzillion numbers and writing exercises and thankfully, mercifully, material for me to go on while we’re struggling to adjust the trips and – and – I don’t know how I’m going to pack two weeks’ supply of frozen breast milk on a long haul flight.
Two weeks of supply of frozen breast milk – I assume that would be a lot to pack with dry ice packs in cooler bags for checkin baggage. Hope they will be handled with care by the airport and airline.
Congrats to Rockstar for completing his first year in primary school. Those are really many books. I see his nice drawings being framed by mommy.
Miss Rockstar looks really serious in the photo. Was it her satisfied with her meal look? A first ski holiday for Miss Rockstar. It would be fun for her to play with snow. 🙂
She was still eating slowly, I’d stop messing with the frames to put something in her mouth from time to time – that was her Watching Mummee Frame Ko-ko’s Artwork look… And my friend sent me a link for where to buy dry ice… Any idea if for some reason Australia doesn’t allow frozen breastmilk in? A quick google didnt yield much result..
I bought snow suits (but not gloves yet) for her online very cheap at gilt about 6 months ago, though we really can’t imagine how she would feel about snow if we really make it up there in the end…
