Rockstar: Mum. Look what I found. Let’s make some medals.
Me: Great, you can give one to Daddy when he gets home.
Rockstar: Yeah!! He’s always worrying about work. Lemme put a star on his.
Me: ?? How does a star help with worrying.
Rockstar: Oh. Then how about “I Love You Daddy”?
Me: Yeah that always works.
1) Rockstar starts with paper cup cover and “gold seal” salvaged from packaging on Papyrus cards we bought at Valentine’s.
2) The Miss contributes recycled feathers from one of her little bauble boxes (actually she cares about the stickers not feathers, Rockstar was the one very amused by the ridiculousness of the thing and decided to make the feathers on her cardboard box stick straight out)
3) Rockstar decides he needs to go take a poop. When he emerges, he’s holding an empty toilet paper roll, “We can make a stand for the medal! D’you have any blue papers?” (Because blue toilet paper rolls totally “Man Up” this masterpiece.)
And so we have the Alien Thing of Love. Dis is *art*, my friends.
What else would you call it?
What I imagine Kings’ response to be, when clients see this gem, is “Uh… I have both a girl AND a boy.”

What did the father say after receiving this medal/gift?
I like it – looks special, not like the usual run-of-the-mill-boring-art-class-medal.
To me, this is a pink-feathered-hair little alien-person shouting “I love you Daddy!” with his/her mouth forming a big O.
Rockstar must be so happy to see his father wearing it to work.
