As we celebrated Mid-Autumn with our lanterns night before last post, the air was deathly still and very hot. Locals have told me in the past that blazing heat often precedes a typhoon, and so I’m not initially surprised when Kings mentions there will be one soon after. I don’t realize til later that it’s going to be a super typhoon though…
Anyway yesterday Rockstar went artjamming with one of his favorite friends, and had a smashing good time. This is his friend’s piece:
Oh sorry fine the credit probably gave it away, but my point was painting done by 30-something super famous impressionist, painting done by Rockstar’s 6 year old friend, Same Difference. This is his favorite friend’s piece:
Sooooo nice right??? She even used texturizer and everything, and a little magic dust (glitter) to finish with.
I would’ve loved to have Rockstar paint a sunflower for my living room, but….
He had loads of fun and provided a lot of amusement to other art jammers, but there are going to be freaking Ninja Turtles in our living room!! In the canvas. They’ve even got their “full power” on. Rockstar was very careful to make sure he put that in the painting. And then he added the glitter “To show how powerful they get! This is soooo awesommmme!”
I mean, I knew beforehand he was going to do that:
Uh………. you can tell I was never a fan. I don’t know why that happens to their heads when they “power on” though Rockstar did manage to explain fairly patiently that the things sticking out on either side of their heads are the tail ends of their ninja masks to show they are in action fighting, not just talking (because then their ninja mask tails would not be flying around, you understand) and…. damn, I’m starting to get really annoyed with whoever created TMNT. This is all their fault, we have this thing in our living room.
ANYWAY…..
It’s the Tractor Tipping scene from Cars – where Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater go scaring tractors in the night and then unwittingly wake Frank The Giant Threshing Machine. YES this used to grace our living room right where TMNT is about to take over. I actually quickly took this canvas away and saved it before Rockstar could keep going at it last time he was artjamming with another friend.
That’s the newly recycled canvas for Little Miss, a relatively cheap basic set, and yes we really brought home The Ninja Turtles All Glittery With Their Full Superpowers On. We’ll be artjammming indoors while the storm is going on; I’m hoping to make a final trip nearby for a bit more paint in case I’m lucky enough to talk Rockstar into also recycling The Ninja Turtles All Glittery With Their Full Superpowers On or doing a major overhaul on them, but if not we’ve got the hooks ready to put it up in its place of honor in our living room too. <cringe>
And so the storm….. is coming.
Thank you for the Facebook messages. Have to go clear the balcony.
See you after the storm, dears.
Stay safe! Hope the storm won’t be too bad.
I like Rockstar’s Ninja Turtles because each of them have a different expression on their face in the sketch. The last one even stuck out his tongue. (I have not watched a single TMNT movie before though when young I have watched the cartoon).
I think Rockstar can draw a pretty sunflower too if he wants to but he is into Ninja Turtles now (I guess) and fighting turtles are more interesting than pretty sun flowers.
Can wait to see the work of Miss Rockstar. WIll she love to paint on canvas?
Sorry I took so long to comment… Rockstar not in school for 4 whole days, Little Miss getting a little sick… I’ve never watched TMNT too though they really sound like teenagers with attitude problem sometimes (Rockstar has been warned not to pick up too much of it or he will not b allowed to watch)…
She doesn’t particularly like painting or coloring but she does seem to like music and dancing, so when she’s a little older……….
