This Is What Kids’ Sunday School Looks Like Nowadays…

IslandECC has 3 adult services and 2 kiddie services, and I can safely say we’ve attended every one of those with almost equal frequency, thanks to a combination of Kings’ work/ travel schedule, whether Rockstar’s classmate’s mum is driving (some services run out of parking much faster than others), whether we are attending with friends, etc etc……

We don’t always get to make kids’ service every single week, so I ended up only seeing the latest series of activities on the kids’ floor yesterday. Walking by a raincloud with droplets of “water” hanging off string, and hearing Miss go “Rain! Quick-quick!” (she means Quick, get out of the rain) it (finally) dawned on me just how much kids’ activities across the board have really changed since I was a kid.

This Miss spent some time examining all this stuff.....

...so she could take a closer look at some of the critters... Is that a recycled egg carton owl with stray feathers off a feather duster?? Brilliant!

Where God’s weird and wonderful creations are labelled and on display along the corridor…

Rockstar said they get a pretty large dose of weird and wonderful facts about weird and wonderful animals that exist for real in nature…

Had to take another pic...

..And we're at worship hall

..And we’re at the main worship hall

(And yes, I have a child with me who finally agrees flowers are "Pree tee")

(And yes, at least one of my children finally agrees flowers are “Preee tee.”)

Takeaways...

Takeaways…

(And Rockstar treated me to a “demo” – on the floor in front of the dog, no less, and it’s surprising she didn’t eat it – the wooden top spins on one end and then eventually ends up spinning on the other end; something about it being because of a combination of air pressure and momentum, and the weight on one end… Why yes, this was explained when they gave him the top… and re the main star-nosed mole mascot, “His nose is like that to help him smell and find food better; I think he doesn’t see very well…”)

The material...

The material…

(Rockstar explained his understanding of Leukemia as “cancer where it’s the blood cells that mutate.”)

...and that needs no explanation.

…and that needs no explanation.

…..And so they deck out the whole place with beautiful paper flowers and a smorgasbord of National Geographic-esque weird animal facts…… To the glory of God.
